Post Whole30 life

Whole30 Meal

My life post whole30 has taught me that I really love the bad stuff and the freedom to eat the bad stuff. However, on my first week of being off the whole30 diet, I didn’t dive into bad stuff. Since I knew this was a detox diet and it was my chance to start new again I wanted to make better choices for my body. After all, I’m 39 going on 40 next year I can’t afford to choose poorly anymore. I don’t have a young twenty-something body to abuse. So I have been slowly eating fun foods like chips and cookies. I have gone back into baking some goodies but only for July 4th Holiday. I’ve enjoyed some sweet treats on our day at the beach and do my best to abstain from junk at home. It’s a fine balance between staying healthy and still eating junk food.

I have discovered for myself that eating things like rice is not a bad thing for our diet. The Asians have been eating rice forever, and they aren’t all overweight. It’s the  American diet that combines with eating rice that is hurting our bodies. Asians have come into making their version of junk food too which is any better than American’s junk food. We can eat rice at every meal as long as we have a protein and fiber.  As long as we are drinking water, coffee or tea. The soda drinking is going to kill us. I don’t need to be a doctor or a scientist to know sugary drinks like soda is going to hurt us. My body has hurt much time over because of it. We naturally consume sugar in many store-bought products drinking soda and eating candy just compounds the amount of sugar pass what we would ever need for our bodies.

Whole30 meals have remained in our meal planning because we all need to eat like this at least 3-4 times a week over heavy carb dinners loaded with fats and sugar. Last night we had steak, sweet potatoes and broccoli for dinner post whole30 this felt great. We are what we eat it’s true. We only have one life and one body to take care of and I now want to take that more seriously.

1 Corinthians 6:19-20 New International Version (NIV)

19 Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; 20 you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your bodies.
