Happy Chinese New Year! 2016 is the year of the Monkey


For the Chinese festivities I made some egg tarts. I used a recipe I found on line.  I followed the recipe pretty much to the T with some minor adjustments. I did have to adjust the egg tart crust recipes slightly because I felt the dough was too try to work. I added about 3 TBSP of cold water  to the dough mix.

For the custard filling portion I add probably close to 3-4 oz of sugar because I like my egg filling to be sweet. I had mini tart molds in which came in handy to use for baking them in the oven. The recipe is very good and I recommend to anyone who like to try making Chinese sweet egg tarts at home. I posted the link to the Chinese Egg tart recipes below.
